Shanetta & Her Boys
Shanetta and her 2 boys (10 and 13) have just moved to Charlotte from out of town and had been living in a hotel for 6 months.  She's worked for the same company 3 years and her hours are picking up. Shanetta finally afforded her family into an apartment - but fell short due to some unforeseen expenses.  DMP helps keep the family in the home so they can defeat homelessness for good.
Roy P.
Family had vehicle problems and had trouble getting 5 year old Roy to his cancer treatments.  DMP is putting a down payment on a new vehicle to ensure Roy can get to his appointments.
Rosa T. 
Homeless family living in a hotel, has worked their way out of homelessness and secured a new home to rent.  DMP is working with A Child's Place to ensure the family is secure and overcomes homelessness. More to come.
The Stories
Below are just a few of the many kids and families we have helped thanks to our members.
Stephanie N.
Single mom with 4 kids, lost transportation to work and school.  Completed car repairs to ensure they could attend school and Stephanie could continue to work.
64 Meals for Kids
64 Weekend Meal Packs for students that do not otherwise have, or know where their meals are coming from while not in school.
Starr, Nardo + 8 Kids
This mom, dad are now both working hard daily to support their large family, but have just overcome homelessness. They need a stackable washer and dryer to do the many loads of laundry that a family of 10 generates.  
Stephanie and Ka'mari
Stephanie is working 3 part-time/contract jobs and her son, Ka'Mari, has medical issues and self-esteem/social issues. Unfortunately, Stephanie and Ka'mari are living doubled up in someone else's living room - Because of her income, she does not qualify for assistance and she can not afford to move into their own home.  Stephanie and Ka'mari receive 50% of the down payment helping them move into their new home.  $750
Myra's Family - 5 Kids
Myra is a single mom with 5 kids and has a disability that limits her income.  In order to have transportation to have transportation and drive her kids to doctor appointments she needs 4 new tires and alignment.  $430
Mrs. S.  + 2 Kids
Antavious is a Mom of 2 who's power and water has been turned off. The 2 kids are in the home, but have no heat and sleeping cold. This is an urgent need that was fulfilled quickly to ensure the children were kept warm during the cold months and access to water.

Kristy's Family
Kristy, her husband and her 6 year old son moved into their own place last month. Kristy's son had never had his own bedroom before.  To finalize their move they need to wash clothes and have furniture for the living room.

Funeral Costs
Family at Levine Children's hospital struggling to pay for son's funeral costs.  You did your part, we got it covered. 

Elizabeth
Elizabeth and her family have battled Ewing Zarcoma and have had many expenses during the fight.  Because you did your part, we were able to step in and do ours for Elizabeth.
Rain Coats
The students at a title one school were all getting sick from running to the trailers outside of school. Most didn't have rain coats, so DMP steps in to keep them healthy and dry.
Brenda & Deontee
Brenda, mom of Deontee. He is a patient of Levine's hospital. Deontee was in the hospital for 4 months after being diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. His mother, Brenda lost her job due to too many missed days of work. She has been unable to receive income due to Brenda caring Deontee while at the hospital. 
Christmas for 9
3 Families and 9 Children Receive New clothes and Christmas presents. $750
Tree Removal
Heather
Heather is a single mother and in a rough spot with no employment and 4 kids that needed adequate shelter.  DMP Steps in to keep them in the home.
Thanksgiving for 10
10 children from 4 families different families Receive thanksgiving dinner otherwise not provided. $750
Katherine
Katherine Stiles is a mom of two girls, with Tourette syndrome. She has a disability and lives on a fixed income of $750/month that goes to rent and some utilities. Katherine is struggling to buy simple household items and feminine products for her family this month.
Ana & 10 Kids
Ana's husband recently lost his job. They have 13 children, youngest 6 months to oldest 10yo. They are struggling to make ends meet and require financial assistance.  
Maryssa
Maryssa is a patient of Levine Children's Hospital. Maryssa was diagnosed with T Cell Leukemia and is in active treatment. She is in chemotherapy and is in the hospital and clinics multiple times of the week. Her family uses their own car to transport Maryssa to her appointments. However, their car needed urgent repairs in order for it to be a safe mode of transportation. Due to the unforeseen cost of repairs, this has created a hardship with making payment for their mortgage. A request has been made for mortgage assistance to help offset the car repair cost.  $1059
Skylar had never walked normally in his entire life.  DMP changes that.
Jasmin and 4 Kids
Jasmin is a single mother and didn't have clean sheets and was soon to need to leave the home. rent and got bedding for the 3 kids.
Cameron
Cameron was in the battle of his life with cancer and the family needed help while taking time from work to travel to treatments with Cameron.
K'lon
This amount will cover half of their June rent while Ka’lon receives cancer treatments at Levine's. 
Child receives BBall Hoop
This child needed a way to bounce back from treatment and his mom requested a basketball hoop to help him recover.
Billingsville Uniforms
Billingsville is a title one school where the kids wear uniforms.  But there was one problem... all of the uniforms were 3 sizes too big for the kids, and no budget to correct it.  DMP Provides uniforms for the school.
Mia
Mia and her family received help while Mia was fighting against an illness.  
DMP delivers meals to hospital for nearly a month while young Maddyn recovers from Stroke.
Baby Lillian needed a new crib in their new home, DMP delivers.
DMP Helps Skylar walk normally for the first time with the help of a walk aid.
Jorgy and his grandparents receive a new wheel chair ramp for their home.

FAQ
How much goes to the cause?
90% goes to the needs, 10% goes to keeping the lights on for DMP operations.  Continued support from our corporate partners, private donors and foundations allows us to give us much as possible to those in need.
How do you choose the causes you fund?
We receive needs mostly from our nonprofit partners and sometimes the general public.  From these, we determine the needs with what we believe to be the highest urgency and that create the highest impact on children and their families.  Each need goes through a strenuous vetting process before it is chosen to be funded.  Once it's approved, we fund it and show you the results.  

General Guidelines for Approved Needs.

We do not help one specific children's cause ONLY.  

DMP is the safety net for all kids and families with urgent needs that are falling through the cracks.

 This can range from a wheelchair for a disabled child, to an emergency fund because a family's home burned down, to providing a school with raincoats or new uniforms, rent to keep a roof over a family's head, new socks for a child who only has 2 pairs or providing meals for a impoverished school, and more - we have done them all.  We look for those who cannot help themselves, and have exhausted all options - then we step in.

Yes, Doing My Part, Inc. and DoingMyPart.com is a 501c3 recognized nonprofit based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Do you take one-time donations?  
Sure, and we certainly appreciate them.

However, we encourage, and highly recommend activating your membership to get the full benefits of DMP.  If you don't want to signup for the monthly membership, here are a few things to keep in mind...

- You can cancel anytime, for any reason, in your private members area or by emailing contact@doingmypart.com
- You will be able to help children every 30 days rather than just one time
- The donations are automatic, so you don't have to think about it.
- You'll get updates for every child we help, direct to your mobile, email or social.

In Charlotte NC, we have nearly 3,000 volunteers doing multiple events per week in the community.  We are working on a plan to allow for this in other communities as well.  We will keep you informed.
